The one-year course in the Certificate in Business Studies (Level 5) will offer students an opportunity to explore a wide range of business-related subjects, allowing students to develop a comprehensive foundation in the key elements of business. Its structure ensures students are well-prepared for a wide array of career paths, employment opportunities, and further education upon completion. Upon successful competition of this course, students can progress directly into our Advanced Certificate in Business Studies Level 6.

Entry Requirements

• Leaving Certificate
• Candidates with a relevant full QQI Level 4 certificate (or above)
• Mature students, and those without a formal education, are welcome to apply.

•  All applicants whose first language is not English will be tested prior to acceptance. A strong fluency in English (both verbal and written) is required to participate on this course.

Note: If you intend purchasing a device to complete assessments and access notes for this course, a device with Microsoft Windows Operating System is recommended, with a minimum of 128 GB.  All enrolled students will be provided with a free Microsoft 365 account.

Progression Opportunities

On successful completion of QQI level 5 award:

• Students can progress directly into our Advance Certificate in Business Studies Level 6 course
• Students are eligible to apply for first year entry to a number of business related courses in a variety of third level colleges and universities via the CAO application process.

Work Placements Abroad

Work Experience is a mandatory element of the Business Studies course.  Students may apply to be part of the Erasmus Work Placement Abroad scheme.  Past Students have travelled to Italy, Malta, Bulgaria and Hungary.

Applicants in receipt of a Social Welfare payment will keep their payment whilst studying on the course under the Back to Education Allowance scheme.
