Creative Writing Course for Digital Media

Certificate in Creative Media QQI Level 5 (5M5048) – 1 Year

This course is designed for anyone with an interest in creative writing and storytelling.  Students will explore various aspects of writing such as prose, poetry, scripts etc. and will be facilitated in developing material for publication.

The course will focus on developing writing skills for both fiction and scripts as well as creation of digital content such as webpages , blogs, book covers etc.  Classes will be delivered in a relaxed environment and learners will be given the opportunity to build on existing and/or new story ideas.

The one year QQI level 5 course will encourage students to share and critique ideas in a supportive setting.  The skills to create media content to complement written material will be taught, giving students the necessary tools to make self-promotional material for their work.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have achieved a Leaving Certificate or equivalent (LCA or a full QQI L4 award in a related area). Candidates should have a minimum of an O5 in LC English. Mature students and returners to education are welcome to apply. Basic I.T. skills are a course requirement. Applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to take an English language proficiency test prior to commencement on the course. All candidates will be called for an interview with the course coordinator where a portfolio of writing may be requested.

Certificate in Creative Media QQI Level 5 (5M5048)

Progression

Graduates can progress to Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production followed by a Top-Up BA (Hons) in Film and TV Production or Multimedia Journalism accredited by University of Wolverhampton and delivered in Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education.

Graduates are also eligible to apply to progress to a range of relevant courses through CAO.

€50

Applicants in receipt of a Social Welfare payment will keep their payment whilst studying on the course under the Back to Education Allowance scheme.
