TV Architect Dermot Bannon visited students from Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education (CDCFE) this week. The Room to Improve presenter participated in a Q&A discussion with students from the Architectural Technology, Interior Design and Media courses.
Bannon was interviewed by CDCFE tutor Laura Roche, who also featured in season 13 of the show earlier in the year. He gave advice to students on how to make it in the industry and revealed that he was not academic in his school going days.
The event was part of a series of talks for students ahead of College Awareness Week, Mon 21st – Fri 25th November. There were also presentations on the day by RTEJr’s award-winning producer, Nicky Coghlan, who recently won the Prix Ex Aequo for his radio play The Emperor’s New Duds. Coghlan is a former radio tutor of CDCFE and has gone on to win IMRO and Radio Podcast Awards.
Also in attendance was Grainne O’Carroll, Senior Producer with Coco Content, who has produced shows like Blind Date, Who Do You Think You Are and the most recent series of Room to Improve.
Media Department Tutor, Laura Roche, said “it was an honour to have such prestigious guests visiting Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education. It is a great motivation for our students to see industry professionals who did not take the traditional routes through university and have nonetheless achieved great success in their careers”
CDCFE’s Open Evening will take place on Tuesday 22nd November from 4-7pm in their Coolock campus.
